Thank You for Participating in the Health Sciences Innovation Forum - Just the Beginning!

I wanted to personally thank all who attended and participated in the Health Sciences Forum held yesterday at the WSU South Campus facility.

Also, a special thank you to our host sponsor, WSU Spokane.

As usual the people at WSU were a joy to work with and I would like to thank Barb Chamberlain, Becki Meehan and the WSU staff for their assistance and professionalism.  Especially in how they went above the call of duty to assist with the parking challenges due to construction.

Next, I would like to again thank the event planning partners, sponsors, vendors, panel speakers and display sponsors for assisting to make this first Heath Science Forum a success based on the early feedback. (A list of partners, sponsors and vendors is provided below, special thanks to Title Sponsor Inland Imaging and to the DSP for the very cool Wayfinding signs)

Also, thank you to Jennifer Evans, Mark Simonds, Allen Battle, Bryan Peterson and John Duffy of LaunchPad for doing such an outstanding job and putting up with me.

Thank you to our Emcee Sean Owsley of KHQ-TV and Invest Northwest, he is class a act.

Finally, I received an e-mail from Luke Timmerman of Xconomy Seattle this morning. He wanted me to know how impressed he was with the collaborative spirit in Spokane around the Health Sciences Initiative and that he has posted the first of two articles he is doing on Spokane's Bioscience efforts on the Xconomy Seattle site. (link is provided below)

This is a major win for our community and I believe this model of bringing nationally known journalists to Spokane to see what is happening here is a very good strategy going forward. (Thank you Susan Ashe)

Xconomy Seattle and Xconomy nationally is a very well respected, highly read online publication. Leveraging traditional media and the viral potential of social media can only help our efforts in promoting our burgeoning industry ecosystems and cluster initiatives such as Health Science, Energy, Aerospace, Technology, etc.

I applaud all of your collective efforts and we stand ready to roll up our sleeves to assist in whatever capacity makes sense for taking our region to the next level. Let's think big!

Bill & the LaunchPad Team,  Thanks for putting the event together.  It really was a powerful group of  speakers and panel members.  There was much more information than I ever expected.  We also felt the attendees were many people we may have never personally met, had it not been for the event such as: Luke Timmerman from Xcomomy-Seattle,  Connie Wong,  PHd, one of the Lee & Hayes group of Patent Attorneys in the Life Sciences & Immunology  fields from Seattle,  Professor Howard Grimes the Dean of Graduate School & VP of Research at WSU,  Steve Neff a quite and impressive guy with an amazing company, and also many of the impressive Forum attendees.. Thanks !

This was a great event! Luke Timmerman, national biotech editor for Xconomy Seattle, did a terrific job as the keynote speaker at the event, and it is clear that in his two days in Spokane meeting with various health sciences companies and others, he quickly understood that Spokane has a vibrant and growing health sciences industry. One that understands that health care delivery is changing with its focus on providing better health outcomes and reducing costs. He heard from Sirti about its proposed new destiny as Innovate Washington, and from a few of the companies  Sirti suppots: RehabLogic,Confera and Revita Rehab. The four-year medical school team provided a  good overview of the promise of that strategic initiative for our region, and late yesterday (serendipity?) the state Senate included $60 million in its budget for the medical school. Luke toured INHS and learned why INHS is a national leader with its unified platform that shares information such as patient medical records among 38 hospitals and beyond, and its two current federal pilot projects. He toured Signature Genomics' labs and more. Way to go, Spokane and LaunchPad!
