Never mistake activity for achievement.”

That’s the quote attached to the instant message profile of Imprezzio’s CEO Dave Talarico. I did some research and discovered the quote can be attributed to legendary basketball coach John Wooden. It resonates with me because, like many women, I have a tendency to multitask. As a working wife, recreational artist, “mom” to a herd of domestic animals and diabetic, I just have so much to do!

When I get home, I put in some laundry and start dinner; listening to NPR on the radio, I clean up the dining room while the meat is broiling. I jot down notes for my novel in progress, making the dogs sit/stay for their Vitabone treats. But, as my husband likes to point out, multi-tasking has its drawbacks. When I’m doing too many activities at once, no one activity gets done well. The meat gets overcooked. The dogs don’t get my full attention. If someone in the family speaks to me, I may not really be listening.
