221 Hungry Fans in 5 Days vs. 60 Days - Episode 2 of Our LIVE Facebook Marketing Case Study

This graph is taken from the actual analytics page from Facebook, showing the
early preliminary results of our LIVE marketing case study.

Notice that it goes all the way back to the beginning of the Thanksgiving holidays
when the restaurant industry starts getting into hyperdrive until New Year's day.

Actually, I missed my goal of 500 new fans in 10 days. However, I overshot my
opt-in target at 326%.
My biggest challenge was a coding error I made, which took the signup
page a full 5 seconds to load. The visitor was staring at a blank white page,
during all the time.
I got some feedback from our fellow Launchpad members, Mark Pond and Mark
Anthony. If they hadn't informed me, they would have been lost.
So thanks to both Marks for telling me, and I was able to find the culprit after
about 4 hours searching and pulling my hair out :).
Follow along with me, participating in the promo. You'll understand my
explanations better, if you immerse yourself in this campaign.

You might win yourself a FREE lunch in the process (no kidding!)

The first two names were drawn yesterday, and the one of them is another

fellow Launchpad member: Barrett Rossie.  Congratulations!

Impressive numbers, Dennis!  Glad that I could (inadvertently) lend a hand.

thats great but are there still some bugs?  I couldn't find the tab on their page - but maybe it was just me. The stats look great.

Hi Margo, I've fixed all the bugs, as far as I know.

Dennis: Nicely done!

Hi Dennis - on my screen, there was no tab to press for the link to enter. They messaged me from their FB with the html link - probably the same one you included above.  You will probably see the thread on their page.  I like this technology; but it seems so complicated having to have face book, launch pad and my own personal e-mail open to send messages to everyone in various places.

Hi Margo,

Just like riding a bicycle, or learning to drive a car when you were 15 (especially driving a stick shift), there would an initial level of discomfort with social media. But once you get the hang of it, it would be just as easy as email.

Launchpad isn't required to participate in the promo itself. However, I'm using Launchpad to provide a regular update of what's going on with the campaign.

I've also designed the campaign to work with the Facebook community only, with an option to use email to spread the word. An email account is required for registration so that we can verify the identity of the persons who are participating in the promo.

Using Facebook alone, you should be able to spread the word, with the technology that I included in the Thank You page, right after registration.

Just like Launchpad, we only want real people to participate - not companies nor organizations.
