Uncomfortable, Thinking About the Cloud?

At this point, most users of internet-oriented technologies have at least heard of the 'cloud.' Yet even though millions use tools existing only in the cloud (think gmail, hotmail, and salesforce.com), most lack a comfort level for what it is.

As business leaders, making decisions on the…

What I’ve Read Lately: The Price of Everything

“The Price of Everything”

by:  Eduardo Porter

ISBN:  978-1-101-44451-1

The title reflects the breadth of topics that Eduardo Porter covers.  And he covers a lot, including things that may be considered taboo in polite circles, doing so in a manner encouraging thought and discussion, rather than derision.

For instance, the opening chapter, The Price of Things, starts with a look at why we pay so much…

Information Radiators–Which Do You Use?

Information radiators. As a MSTA* member I’ve ridden with a few different groups. The exact make up of these groups…

What I’ve Read Lately: Enchantment

“Enchantment”

by: Guy Kawasaki

ISBN: 978-1-59184-379-5

Every once in a while, there comes a book you’re sorry to see come to an end. It’s not to say other books you’ve read were not tremendously enjoyable…just that they often come to an end about the time you’re ready for them to.  With Enchantment, I really…

How High Will Gas Climb at the Pump?

Around the nation, gasoline prices at the pump are again climbing—and at a pretty good clip, too.  So it’s not uncommon to hear people begin to wonder again, How high will it go?

From my perspective, there is a silver lining to higher fuel prices.  As transportation costs go up (bad for our truckers), the harder it is to continue off-shoring manufacturing labor.  I remember in 2008 seeing ABC News reports of furniture…
