Advice for Job Seekers

Over the past couple of years I flitted around trying to find a job that fit for me after working for years at the same company. I left the job because I felt like I wouldn't be able to reach my full potential and took a position that I thought would help bring me to that potential; however, the corporate environment wasn't a fit for my personality.

I then tried a new job where the environment was a great fit for me, but again, the actual work did not help me grow, and the…

Let's talk about it ... discussion comments versus wall comments

First an awesome welcome to newcomers and anyone stopping by to read this blog.

As a moderator of a couple of the communities here on LaunchpadINW, I posed a question to other moderators about the exchange of communication difference in the comments area, the discussion area, and here on a blog.

There is a lot of wonderful sharing in the discussion areas, unfortunately there is no way for the one who posted the discussion to know if someone visited the discussion or if the… Continue

Kids Art Expression

Today, I spent the afternoon with local children who were creating art to be auctioned at Auntie's Bookstore on First Friday (4/2). It was so wonderful to see the kids having such a great time creating their masterpieces. All proceeds we receive on First Friday will be used to benefit Shaw Middle School's art program. It was an incredible site to see local kids helping local kids!

Sella and the bird

Last night Stella Evans and her companion found and saved my sun conure from a cold night out and perhaps breakfast with a hawk or other preditor. Finding my Sunny on the balcony of Stellas apartment they took him in. Thank you, Thank you.

I will be going up to the Evans apartment to bring my little sweetheart home this afternoon.

Spokanimal and the Spokane police tell me many animals owners and finders end up in court over such things. I was shocked to say the least…

Spokane gets some positive, national publicity

I thought others might find this interesting and exciting!

Spokane was listed in the top 5 on MSNBC's list of "Real Estate Steals in Fun and Affordable Markets!" (seen on the today show, march 22, 2010; you can view it on todayshow.com)

Spokane is 14th of all US cities in the Money Magazine's list of "Best Places to Buy Now!" (Posted on cnnmoney.com, March 22, 2010)

One World Registers in Inlander Best of Poll

Congratulations to One World Cafe for being voted Spokane's 3rd best vegetarian restaurant in the Inlander. What an accomplishment for a grassroots venture with no advertising budget, not located in downtown Spokane, and not being your typical restaurant. Thank you to all those who voted for us. And here's to making it even better new year.

how does my garden grow and other mportant things

All of the seeds are up now. It looks like a 7-Eleven in my living room. At least at night. I had to purchase another shelving system from Costco and 10 more lights and light bulbs. The herbs and peppers are growing by leaps and bounds, especially the ones under lights in the house. We are starting to fill the pots for transplanting which I anticipate will be a week or less. I'ts amazing how fast they grow.

Today was absolutely gorgeous and I had to spend half…

There are so many options one can choose in life.

You can choose to focus on your self pursuit and not look around until what you want is accomplished.

Celebrating 100 Posts and Featured in Spokesman Review

For a mere four month’s DrinkNectar.com has been a labor of love for me. Birthed out of a desire to brand a future Spokane business the blog has morphed and grown into an extension of my passion for coffee and wine. While today may not match the longevity recently celebrated by a twitter friend and wine blogger @Lenndevours of the… Continue

Calling All LaunchPad INW Members: The Hey Google, Pick Spokane Project Needs Your Support!

If you have not heard Google has launched a new initiative to pick a few cities to test their broadband fiber program and Spokane has launched a campaign to help make the case.

I believe if Spokane were to be selected this would be a great marketing message for our city and we at LaunchPad INW are offering the City of Spokane our site as a possible "local" test application for this project.

Please read the following post from Marlene Feist, Communications Director, City of… Continue

HSSA Seeks Your Support for SSB 6727. Write or Call Today Rep. Ross Hunter, Chair, House Finance Committee

The Health Sciences & Services Authority (HSSA) of Spokane County has attempted through SB 6727, sponsored by Sen. Chris Marr, to make three minor technical changes to the legislation that authorized HSSA in 2007. There is no fiscal impact from these changes, and they will allow the HSSA's Board to operate more efficiently. The bill made it through the Senate thanks to Sen. Marr's leadership, and was passed out of the House Economic & Community Development & Trade Committee and on… Continue

Hey Google, Pick Spokane

I just posted some photos I took yesterday in the park with people holding our "Hey Google, Pick Spokane" sign. The City of Spokane, along with partners Greater Spokane Incorporated, Avista Corp, tw telecom, Greenstone Homes, and yes, LaunchPad, are working hard to complete our application to Google for the Fiber for Communities project.

This project would involve installing fiber to the home, creating Internet connection speeds around 100 times faster than what's available…

What I am up to these days

It's tomato time of the year again. All of my 6000 seeds are germinating. My herbs and peppers are growing by leaps and bounds and the work never ends. Yesterday I started preparing the trays of soil to transplant the tomatoes. I uploaded the website with all my current offerings yesterday, although I am still working on the herb and pepper pages.…
