- I wrote the controversial novel "The Jewel of Medina" and its sequel, "The Sword of Medina." International bestsellers published in 20 languages, they're about the youngest wife of the Prophet Muhammad, the most famous and influential woman in Islam. Because of the circumstances -- censorship, death threats -- surrounding the books and their publication, I've been traveling the world doing interviews, giving speeches, and debating.

Smooth Jazz on a Slippery Night
"Dress to impress," the invitation said, and we did, donning our snazzy black evening wear for a night of jazz and wine at the Red Lion -- but alas, the only ones we impressed were one another, and perhaps the members of the Bluestone Jazz Trio.
