Doyle Wheeler said… I have yet to take the tour. I am currently looking for branded knife blanks in fixed and folder. I love to re-use so I figure I would be right on by using another companies quality blade and I'll take care of the handle!
Rosa Swatzell said… Hi Joanne! You can just send me an email at rosa@ourtownzip.com if you are interested! The tables are $25. I am trying to get a variety of businesses there so I will go through Monday and see how many spaces I have left. Email me if you are interested and I will check availability :)

Good to see you this morning too. Looking forward to using those great animations you've worked on for LaunchPad.

3ds, Maya, LightWave, XSI, etc. all have their advocates (at one time or another). Each is great in its own way, features, accessibility, extensions, learning resources, etc.
My favorites are Blender from ease of use, ease of access (low cost) and power; Modo for its toolset and usability. Modelers at Pixar love it for a reason.
Also a mix of SketchUp and Kerkythea (or it's evolved state & new name) was a solutions I used for a while. You have to love challenges to do all the work in SketchUp and try to overcome the obstacles: the lack of camera fluidness, render quality, working with an external renderer, etc.
Anyone interested in getting into 3D should consider starting with Blender and two courses. In either order: Getting Started / Essentials of Blender from Lynda.com and then offerings from CG Cookie. Recommended CG Cookie courses: "start here" course links, and then the 2010-2011 vehicle series, then the most recent low-poly character.

I have noticed a lot of members have profile photos that are distorted. Good news if you have this problem - it is easy to fix! (Not good news that you have a problem) Thanks Mark your help with this!
There is an edit feature for your profile photo. Your profile photo is saved as a square image as opposed to a rectangular portrait style image that most people usually upload. The edit feature allows you to crop the photo into a square so it doesn't show as a distorted image.
