Business Start-up Catch 22

Situation: Enterprising individual looses employment when his employer looses his business and still owes employee $3K. This has become lost money and individual starts own business which has clients waiting for the doors to open even before real marketing can begin. The Catch: With a furnished business address, a business identity, programming, and all licensing in place the individual falls short by $1,800 before being able to get state certification. Hal, I have been in the USA for a long time.

I became a US citizen in June of 1970. You are right about Winnipeg ... you have to be born there to ever live there ... way too cold for the average bear. Summer occurs one day without notice in August.

I was saved by my father on what I think was the coldest day I endured. In 1955 (age 10) I was delivering my 17 customer route, which was spread over 3+ mi out. It was so cold that I had to run between farm houses. Each farmer would let me in to warm my clothing before I went on. One farmer wasn't there so I went to his barn to warm among the dairy cows, who raised the barn temp to 50F with body heat. Outside I saw a thermometer at -56F (w/o the 30+mph wind chill) and knew I was in trouble, as that meant a 2mi run from the last house to my home in full heavy woolens ... no down or synthetics in those days.

OMG, there was my father, who didn't believe in coddling us, in his brand new 1956 Buick Century ... I thought I had died and gone to heaven.

As my children would say, dad that is an uphill both ways in a snowstorm story ... gotta love them ...
