The Status Update on the Status of my Progress

Posted on November 20, 2010 at 9:44am 0 Comments

Did you get all of that?

I am not too sure what it means either but that is how things have been in my world these last few months...especially the last 3 or 4 weeks.

A little bit of quick background - last summer I was contacted by an Executive Recruiter to see if I was interested in working as a 'turn-around' guy for a business that was to soon have new owners. Over the course of several weeks that included much conversation, letters, reference checks, due diligence on both… Continue

Creative Outlets – What is Yours?

Posted on July 24, 2010 at 11:18am 3 Comments

For a VERY long time it seems my dear girlfriend has been after me to find a hobby. A hobby like drawing or fishing or canoeing – this has been unnerving to say the least.

Not because her request is unreasonable or misguided. She wants to

see me do other things than what may be called 'work'. I thoroughly

enjoy working with small business PEOPLE and offering any…

What is ‘STRATEGIC MARKET FORCES’?

What is 'STRATEGIC MARKET FORCES'?

That is a question I have asked myself many times...though not as many times as I have been asked. The work I am doing began for me in 2001, though it could have started much

earlier than that, maybe…

Prior Proper Planning Prevents Piss-Poor Production

Posted on May 22, 2010 at 12:41pm 0 Comments

Anyone that knows me knows I am a planner. I plan everything down to the second and I have my schedule pretty well figured out weeks in advance. I do this to ensure I am able

to achieve my goals and have time to do other things as well. I am

extremely against anything piss-poor.…

“Super SERVE!!!”

Posted on May 22, 2010 at 12:38pm 0 Comments

What does that mean to you?

I got this from a recent Facebook post of a friend, Sheila Keen. Sheila owns a small business, Keen Kleen -

She is a one woman cleaning frenzy - and her deal is to 'Super Serve'.

I love the 'Super Serve'. I asked her if I could use that phrase and she has…

Motive [s] = Priority [s]

Some time ago I was attending a 'Sales Presentation' workshop. Some may say it was an over-priced rah-rah session. This is certainly a reasonable label – though there is always GOLD within the context the trick is to dig until you do find it.

This particular speaker was talking about core values & how these will accurately drive our thoughts and actions. At one point he stopped moving...stopped talking...took the mic in his hand and addressed the audience straight and… Continue

Transparency & Laying it on the line

Posted on January 9, 2010 at 11:11am 2 Comments

Thought I would give an example to better illustrate my point. Last week I overheard a good friend of mine on a phone call with the service department of a large group of car dealerships. As it happens his SUV is just short of the warranty by 30 miles and has a serious mechanical issue. The warranty company declined the claim...and so he has a dead rig stuck in service with a $1,700 repair order. And the likelihood of more costly repairs is high...and so after he gets off of the call I inquire… Continue

Point...Shoot...Aim!

Point...Shoot....Aim!

What sort of title is that? Who would do such a thing? Someone who will likely miss their target...that's who!

I'm sure you have seen this happen...to a close friend or someone you work with...they see something curious or intruguing [point] go after this item [shoot] and then tries to figure out how to get it [aim].

Think about this particular business case study, one of the largest corporate collapses & bankruptcies of all… Continue

What is on YOUR AGENDA?

What is on YOUR AGENDA?

Yep, that's right – after all you are all you think about! Even if or when we are 'acting' in the interest of others it all boils down to what will ultimately be best for us. And what is best for our interests...maybe those closest to us.

So you say...”That's nice Dave. What does that have to do with 'Transparency'?” Here is a crazy thought – lay it all on the table. Ask the other party what their agenda is too. Why hide behind the… Continue
