The vulnerability that Ed speaks about "Psybot" is the only so called home router attack that has surfaced in the wild, and it showed up in March 2009. It gets through usually by way of not changing the default login Admin password or else an easily cracked Admin password. The fix is to update the firmware or change the password to something hard to guess. This one bug "Psybot" payload would cause an infected system to become a botnet, droid used for a denial-of-service attack on bigger web-servers. I have not heard or read about any worms coming through a router to cause a malicious infection or ever cause a loss of data.

John the Geek called this morning. There is vulnerability in the Linksys WRT and NetGear WGR series routers. The router firmware needs updated and a patch. Worms are getting into the computer through the router and could cause you to lose data. He came over and sure enough I had the worm. Good I don't use my PC much now I have changed to my MAC. If you have these routers you may want to contact your IT person or you can contact John locally at 509 939-2134.

We're looking for our 1000th graduate---someone in the Leadership Spokane Class of 2012 will be that person.

Our city, our region and our state need inventive and diverse leaders who have the capacity to cast a vision and use their passion and talent and courage to solve today's problems--and seek answers to tomorrow's questions.

Leadership Spokane will help our community get there.

Please join us for a light breakfast on March 9th (7:30- 9:00AM) to learn more about the Leadership Spokane program and hear perspectives on leadership. 801 W Riverside, 1st floor conference room.

Graduates from one of our founding sponsors, Avista, will be speaking on their Leadership Spokane experience. Avista has put 28 employees through the program. Come learn why they believe Leadership Spokane is an important development tool.

I'm looking for a local expert in the field of gift cards (physical and electronic) for a consulting project.  Ideally, this person would be experienced in implementing a online solution and have relationships with key retailers (e.g., Amazon, Best Buy, etc.).  Background may include Blackhawk, InComm or possibly GroupOn.  Thanks!

IT government workers are currently behind by about 20 to 30%, not ahead.

I agree that's quite an extensive list of requirements, I'd be curious to know the server to IT ratio.

David --

I'm in no position to comment on any other government jobs but yeah, if you're going to work at the library you're going to work at the library! I'm officially holding down two (well, actually three) different positions.
Comment by David Akers on November 5, 2010 at 4:46pm
Wow, quite the list for job requirements. Basically Windows admin, Linux admin, SQL admin, Web admin, Network admin. And I had heard talk lately of Govt employees making 20-25% more than their private sector counterparts. Guess that doesn't apply for the Libary!
