Mark-Margie-Megan,

Megans locations sound great. Coffee and books and good conversation.
Rocket Bakery does indeed rock
Here is a thought
Have people list their 5 faves of all time (books)
Then list their most recent books and how they review them
(via Marks Tag "Share")
Garland would be excellent (Tin Man is great too)
*I would be interested to know how mant "readers" here ar also "writers"

Donuts/nuts/Chips and Salsa/Cookies ?

David and Margie --

Thanks for the ideas! Prior to the recent change of platform, I was in the process of setting up a regular meeting (monthly, quarterly?)... Any ideas about location, time, frequency, and other logistics would be most welcome!

As for Margie's idea about the list of books to share, one idea that I had that may work is that if any of you have books that fall into this category, go ahead and post the title and a quick review as a new "Discussion Forum" and include the tag "Share." That way, anyone could click on the tag and bring up a list of all the books that fall into that category. Any other ideas about constructing such a list?

Thanks for the invite,what a great community/group!

"Tipping Point" was definitely interesting, though I had to will my way through sections that I felt were a bit dry and repetitive... but overall, a good read! Just finished "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" on the advice of a friend, and it was a quick, easy and eye-opening read that I would definitely recommend. Also, if you enjoyed "Tipping Point," "Freakonomics" is an entertaining look at sociological trends through an economist's eye. Very quirky and intriguing!

I love the idea of a once a month type meeting group... I look forward to seeing everyone's interest level, and if we can make it happen! Might be able to get us into the Tinman on Garland (its an art gallery/bookstore... right near a rocket bakery), as a possible location as well. Let me know!

This looks like an excellent group.
"Tipping Point" is exquisite.
Gladwell is always a fascinating read.
"Society of The Mind" is worthwhile (by Eric L. Harry)

Margie,

How about a once a week ... or once a month meeting at Aunties ? (Hastings?)
-
Like a poor mans version of Oprah ? (Coffee/Poetry/Books, etc)

Dave I have read Tipping Point - if anyone else would like to borrow it - let me know - here's an idea for this group - why not start a list of books that we can read & then share with the rest of the group - not sure how would do it - I just come up with the ideas - that is why I have a network of friends/business associates that can help me implement them! Here are a couple of others that I have read recently - Endless Referrals by Bob Burg, Raving Fans by Ken Blanchard, On-going reading: 1000 Places to See befor you die - USA/Canada Edition!

My latest foray into business books is Adrian Slywotzky's "The ARt of Profitability". So far a good read.

Hi Guys!

I am working my way thru Malcom Gladwell. I have almost finished Tipping Point'. I am really enjoying his perspective, obvious understanding of the material yet from a non-in-the-trenches sort of way.

It is about the inter-relations of people in groups of all sizes.

I am looking forward to the next one...

Now about the David v. Goliath let me tell you the bigger they are...
