Welcome to YOUR community sharing appreciation for Veterans

Welcome to the Veterans of Military Service community.

We recognize that when we speak of veterans, we are from multi-generation views and needs.  This community is open to anyone who has actively served with the military, is actively serving, and or has been associated with the military in some form during their lifetime.

The important thing here, is to share with you that age, race, sex, branch of service and/or experience are not the qualifying or controlling factors when it comes to need, support, or volunteering.

If you, as a veteran, have a goal to reach or a difficulty to overcome, there are multitudes of opportunities and resources that are available or being made available to empower YOU in moving forward.

It is not about just you, or me or them... it is about us. Veterans who served for a cause and are unified through that service and the awesome community that supports all.

If you have an idea that can help strengthen this community, please let us know. Please encourage others to join us in this effort to work with, for and among those who served. Thank you!

There was desire to remove this link to the National Suicide Prevention Line, however, it is more important to provide a link to those who may need it.  It is my goal and hopefully that of others to no longer need such a link, because we have joined together and found purpose in our own home towns.

Veteran's Suicide Chat line

http://www.suicidepreventionlifeline.org/Veterans/
** you can click on lower tight button to engage in chatline
You will first go to a terms of service page that identifies you as a veteran, tells you that you have an option to not give your name and how the chatline works...
If you are a veteran in suicidal crisis or emotional distress and the chat service is not available because chat counselors are currently assisting other veterans, please call the Veterans Suicide Prevention Hotline 1-800-273-TALK (8255) and press 1.

Ed,

I am working up the calendar today.  The second Wed of every month is the meeting day for the E. WA Veteran Task Force.  Though things can change, our current presentations are as follows: Feb - apprenticeship training/alliance w task force; Mar - Red Cross & Task Force Tool Kit; Apr - training/network day; May - Veteran Cemetery, Memorial programs and support; Jun - Taskforce Picnic/networking day- locations will be sent in emails.

We are in early planning stage for Salute to Service and will be establishing schedules within the next week.

I will share other events and schedules as they become available to me.

Thank you for your enthusiasm and support. It is Veterans helping Veterans that make a huge difference.

Jurene, count me in for all including Apl & June. I have observed that there is more and more talk and less and less action on behalf of our Vets, so it is easy to align myself with such a faithful activist! Please send a summary of dates and jobs for me to plug into my Outlook and it will be done.

The Veteran Task Force will be providing a training/networking day on April 11 regarding services and contacts for family support, available legal support services, additional needs programs, and more.  I am seeking volunteers to help in the planning and support for this day.  In addition, we are planning a picnic day on Jun and will need volunteers to make this a great day.  Please contact me for details.

Here is a link to many businesses that are offering free meals to Vets on Veterans day and some even after the date. Also, Lowe's and Home Depot offer 10% discounts year round as well as some other businesses. Check it out at
