Terrific news! I am delighted to announce that we have created a new position at Leadership Spokane, the Alumni Relationship Manager, and have hired a great candidate: Connie Stark. She has a BS degree from WSU and Spokane roots and connections. She has a small business background—headed her own company which offered adventure and sports tours in the US, Canada and Europe. She has extensive work and volunteer experience with nonprofits (planning events, engaging sponsors) and is currently leading an effort at Ferris High School to build their alumni association. She is skilled in building access data bases and websites and in using html code (her company was used by Microsoft for testing new products). You'll be meeting her soon--please make her welcome!

Nation wide test of EAS system on 9 November, 2 PM (EST). This will likely cause confusion, as broadcasting and perhaps other systems will be disrupted, so be prepared. More info on FCC's website at ww.fcc.gov. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will conduct the first-ever nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS). The purpose of the test is to assess the reliability and effectiveness of the EAS as a way to alert the public of national emergencies.
