51st Annual Leadership Prayer Breakfast (Thursday April 26, 2012 7-9AM) in the Doubletree Hotel ballroom downtown Spokane.

Please join us in honoring our elected officials and upholding them in prayer.

This year’s keynote speaker is Romanita Hairston. She leads the US Programs division of World Vision. With operations in eleven U.S. locations (urban and rural), she is responsible to lead the organization’s national focus on raising awareness and providing tangible and effective outcome based solutions to improve child well being in the US.

Program participants this year include: Arlene Patton, Carl Tomkins, Capt. Kyle Smith, Mary Verner, Nicole Lewis, Rodney McAuley, Lilac Queen Sydnee Scofield, Susan Meyer and other members of the Spokane community.

A table, with seating for ten, will be reserved in your name, or the name of your organization, for only $250.  Tables will be assigned on a ‘first paid – best location’ basis, so you are encouraged to send your registration and payment early.  Individual tickets are $28. If you have questions, contact Carla LaFayette at 509-475-1961 or lafayette.carla@gmail.com.

Just posted a job for Live-in House Manager at Hearth Homes,  a christian nonprofit which provides safe transitional housing to women with children

I thought they were going to be more regular, too. I like having them in the morning. Norm, were you still interested in being a board member for Hearth Homes?

Do we still have a monthly prayer breakfast?

Are there any other regularly or semi-regularly occurring meetings of the prayer community or any sub communities of the prayer community? I would really like the chance to get more connected to my brothers and sisters in the Lord via this community.

Thought you might enjoy this interesting
prayer given in Kansas at
the opening session of their Senate. It seems

prayer still upsets some
people.. When Minister Joe Wright was asked to open

the new session of the Kansas Senate, everyone was expecting the usual generalities, but this is

what they heard:

Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask
your forgiveness and to seek your direction and
guidance. We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those
who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we

have done.

We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed

our values.

We have exploited the poor and called it

the lottery.

We have rewarded laziness and called it

welfare..

We have killed our unborn and called it

choice.

We have shot abortionists and called it

justifiable.

We have neglected to discipline our
children and called it
building self esteem...

We have abused power and called it

politics.

We have coveted our neighbor's possessions
and called it
ambition.

We have polluted
the air with profanity and
pornography and called it
freedom of expression.

We have ridiculed the time-honored values
of our forefathers and called it
enlightenment.

Search us, Oh, God, and know our hearts
today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free.

Amen!

The response was immediate. A number of
legislators walked out during the prayer in
protest. In 6 short weeks, Central Christian
Church, where Wright is pastor, logged more than
5,000 phone calls with only 47 of those calls
responding negatively. The church is now receiving
international requests for copies of this prayer

from India , Africa and Korea .

Commentator Paul Harvey aired this prayer on
his radio program, 'The Rest of the Story, 'and
received a larger response to this program than any

other he has ever aired.

With the Lord's help, may this prayer sweep
over our nation and wholeheartedly become our
desire so that we again can be called 'one nation

under God.'

If possible, please pass this prayer on to
your friends.. 'If you don't stand for something,
you will fall for everything.'

Think about this: If you forward this
prayer to everyone on your
e-mail list, in less than 30 days it would be

heard by the world.

I've removed the guilt clause at the end but I would still encourage you to share this information widely.

Good Morning to all,

Thirteen days to go for our backpack drive for local refugee students.  I'm having a blast shopping and am finding some great deals.  For those of you who are collecting backpacks from your churches/others, please let me know if you want to drop directly to the high school.  I can arrange to meet you there on Dec. 2nd, the day of the event.  I plan on being at Rogers by 4:00, but can arrange to be there earlier.  If you are planning on attending the event please let Karen know, for food reservations.  All info should be below.  But feel free to shoot me an email at yvonneL@spokaneschools.org.  Thank you!  Have a blessed Thanksgiving.
