Hi Sophie, 

It depends, did you sell tickets, or was their a charge to attend the fundraising dinner? If there was, then you MAY still have to pay sales tax. If NOT, you likely do not. 

I have the contact information of some folks at the Washington State Dept. of Revenue that could probably be helpful as well.

Does anybody know if a nonprofit is only exempt  from sales tax or also on a catered dinner for a fundraiser. Thanks.
