Hello fellow film community members!

If you haven't seen it yet, be sure to check out this Spokesman Review article about the award winning local web series, Transolar Galactica, being produced right here in Spokane.

Spokesman: Spokane Produced 'Transolar Galactica'...

The show is currently running a Kickstarter campaign to fund its Second Season. It's already raised over $22,000 - but needs to reach $30k within the next 24 hours in order for the show's creators to receive any of the funds!

You can check out the Kickstarter project here to learn more about how you can contribute:

Transolar Galactica: The Kickstarter

or the show's website to learn more about it (www.TransolarGalactica.com)

Help spread the word! Not only will you be helping support a local film production, but if their fundraising campaign succeeds, it will set the record for the most money successfully raised via a Kickstarter campaign within Spokane.

THE 50 HOUR SLAM screening becomes an event celebrating the Arts of Spokane.

The Hip Clips

are 16 short films chosen by our 7 illustrious judges and the Slam’s organizers from all the competitors in this year’s 50 HOUR SLAM. The Slam, of course, is the competition where filmmakers have fifty hours to make a short 3 to 6 minute film while incorporating three secret criteria. This year the criteria were the number 50, a historical building, and an original poem by a local poet.

There will be two screenings sessions on May 12, and the audience will be given the opportunity to vote on their favorite and name the winner of THE HIP CLIP Award for 2012.

This year the screening has become a major event as we celebrate the arts of Spokane with an exhibit of local photography entitled "THIS PLACE MATTERS". Several local photographers use their keen eye to capture a few of the historical buildings in Spokane in ways you’ve never seen them before. We’ll also be hosting live performances from poets from BROKEN MIC and GET LIT between the Slam screenings at the Saranac Public House, where we will also announce this year’s winners at the end of the night.

Spokane Filmmakers, Friends...

I ask and would welcome your help spreading the word about "Next Beings" A production I hope Spokane will host in the coming months. This is in the Pre-Production Phase. It is planned to be a Live Action & CG mix. While scripted, it will also feature elements of Late Night Talk Show, Sketch Comedy, Reality TV Challenges!

I think the mood of Next Beings could be summarized this way: Tim Burton + Pixar + Beetlejuice + Modern Family + The Office

Learn more, recommend an Actor, and support the production: goo.gl/U2CP2 and nextbeings.com
