The Greater Newport Area Chamber of Commerce will be having their next General Members' Meeting on Tuesday, February 7th at 6pm in the PUD's Box Canyon Room, located at 130 N. Washington, in Newport, WA. We will be having Chris Daniewicz from the WA State Department of Labor and Industries talking about L&I issues and what businesses need to know and be thinking about. Learn how to train your employees on safety and avoid unexpected rate increases through options such as having an employee stay at work performing "light" duty where appropriate. Contractors please note: this meeting will cover continuing education units for contractor registration renewals. Bring your comments and questions for Q&A time after the presentation. As usual, members will have the opportunity to promote their business and network with other members. We look forward to seeing you there!

For Grads Seeking to Work and Do Good

This is a good article from the Wall Street Journal talking about some of the issues encountered by young people starting businesses and those encountered by small businesses trying to hire them.

Welcome Connie Clark!  I would like to invite you to our Launch Party for our new internet startup.  Please come to the party and spread the word.  We are leading Spokane in promoting local commerce and sustainable neighborhoods!

I would like to nominate Rosa Swatzell for leading a new internet startup, graduating from EWU Magna Cum Laud, and recovering from major heart surgery in the last year.

She is a wonderful family member and community leader.  And a great example of how age doesn't matter if you have a job to do! How do I nominate her.

How will your 2012 play out?  Is your business healthy?  Are you as serious about being a small business as you are in marketing your goods or services?  Our January 6th and 7th Small Business Boot Camp is your All-in-One tool for the fundamentals; and, for best practices.  Get off to a healthy start.  These are the very tools and techniques that helped us build a very successful organization.  Why not you?   Two 4-hour morning sessions; a 75-page take-home 'how to' workbook; and, you're set to go.   http://smallbizbootcampjan2012linclnctr.eventbrite.com/ See you there!
