I’ve recently submitted a letter of intent to purchase a local business and am hopeful that we will move to a purchase agreement soon.  I’m anticipating the need for a business attorney to assist with the closing.  No brokers are involved in this transaction.   It’s a pretty straight forward transaction, not a lot of details or appendixes.  I don’t want Spokane’s most expensive attorney, just a decent business attorney who will represent my best interest.  Any suggestions?

Thanks Ron, I appreciate the vote of confidence!
You might contact Terry Gobel, www.attorneyinspokane.com. He handles contracts and such and I know him personally as a competent lawyer and he would fit your category of "not the most expensive in Spokane".

Hi Pam,

Have you tried Jessica Allen, she is a member here on Launchpad. I've referred her clients before and they have been happy. I have no idea what her rate is.

Hi Pam,

This is something we can help you with here at Lee & Hayes. Feel free to give me a call if you'd like to discuss.

Hey Pam,

Buying a business can be a great thing and a risky thing.  Having a good attorney does help mitigate this.  In my line of business I have worked with a lot of business attorney's from Lukins & Annis.  They are a great firm who will represent you best interest.  Chuck Teegarden (on Launch Pad) is a good contact with them.  He can help you meet an attorney to match your needs and hopefully your budget.  If not, he can probably direct you in the right direction.  You may also want to talk to your bank, or a good banker, to help look at the numbers, verify taxes, etc.  We have seen people forge numbers before when selling a business so you want to make sure they are accurate.  I hope this helps!

Hi Pam,

This is definitely something that my firm can help you out with, and our rates are quite reasonable.  Feel free to send me a message and we can discuss the particulars.

Try Davis Groesbeck. he does that type of law and has an excellent reputation. He saved my neck on a business deal

Pam,

Pre-Paid Legal Services is an awesome way to go.  You have unlimited access to a law firm for advice on an issue and you talk to a specialist is that area of  law, taxes, type of business entity, hiring, compliance, etc.  They will also review contracts and other paper work, write letters for you, help with debt collection, and provide consulting thru www.gosmallbiz.com.

Check out my web site at www.prepaidlegal.com/biz/lrobeson.  All of this for $69 a month!  That's about 15 minutes of an attorney's time.  Call me and I'd be happy to meet for coffee and provide more details.

Have been pleased with rates and service of Wolff & Hislop for home/small business, and Lukins & Annis for litigation. I'm sure there are many other good local attorneys as well.
