Comment by Stephen Grant on January 26, 2012 at 12:47pm Read an article in today's Wall Street Journal about larger companies making moves toward the small business IT consulting market. I highly recommend reading it if you are in or looking at getting into the IT consulting business.
Comment by Ron Wright Investigations LLC on January 15, 2012 at 8:45pm Great meeting!
It was nice to mingle and network with those who attended that have similar interests. I promised some folks I would send links to some things that may be useful.
Some were impressed with my business card. Terresa a long time fellow blogger friend who runs her own virtual office services business help me pull the design concept together. Dove Printing helped translate this concept at a reasonable price into the finish product.
If you need a physical address and don't want to use your home address and or mail drop/PO Box, I use the Fernwell Executive Suites just around the corner from Launchpad. They have plans starting at $50.00 per month with access to one of their conference rooms to meet with clients. Tell Debbi Lee I referred you:-)
Regarding the new/alternative/social media. The following books are must-reads:
If you are just starting out and or are currently doing business in the Spokane region and ever wondered why the prevailing wage is so low and why Spokane's economy fails to launch, here's my analysis having arrived only five years ago. Even with massive infusions of pubic money, Spokane's economy continues to sputter along. - Please consider the excellent research work of Mr. X at his blog Spokane Economics and Demographics. This is an aspect of Spokane Nice that you will never learn from Greater Spokane Incorporated. Actually I'm more of an optimist than Mr. X is. I believe that the Spokane Region's economy is set to significantly grow in the coming decade.
Whether you realize it or not YOU ARE KEY to making this happen. Your involvement will not only benefit you but the citizens of Spokane as well. HINT: - The free flow of information can no longer be controlled and/or constrained in this island nation/state of Spokane.
Here's Mr. X's latest article that is a summary of his work over the last several years:
SPOILER - I don't want to step on any one's toes and of course you a free to disagree with my assessment. Just keep an open mind. For those wishing to learn more about the downside of Spokane Nice and the effects of the legacy wealth in this community, I would recommend reading the collective works of investigative reporters Tim Connor (Now communications director the Center for Justice) and Larry Shook (Former publisher of Spokane Magazine) at Camas Magazine (National award winning publication). Shook has some summary pieces of their work, "Spokane's Anarchist Mayor," on personal his blog. Shook's current book in progress is Girl from Hot Springs. Don't miss Shook's report summarizing the Fancher Report. A link to a rare PDF copy of this report is included at the bottom of Shook's article. The Fancher report is not talked about in polite circles and only whispered in hushed tones between friends in dark corners. In the past if you were lucky it may appear in a plain envelop over your transom one night. Thanks to the Internet it is now available to all.
My current personal interest is holding law enforcement leaders accountable for their lack of leadership and integrity in the recent spate of officer involve shootings and deaths. In some of these cases the officers created their own exigent circumstances that led to the use of lethal force. In the Zehm/Thompson case there was an overt cover-up by high-level police administrators, the Office of the City Attorney, the County Prosecutor's Office and the Office of the Mayor. The US Department of Justice in its Washington DC press release after the federal conviction of former Ofc. Thompson said, " . . . A federal jury today convicted . . . Thompson . . . of civil rights and obstruction charges stemming from his March 18, 2006 of an unarmed citizen and an extensive cover-up that followed . . . . [My emphasis]." My expectations are higher than what goes for the local norm and I will hold those in leadership positions accountable. You can read more at my personal blog - Ron the Cop.
