Hello! I'm a member of the Shrinking Violet Society of Spokane, and every year The Violets put on a fabulous party with a purpose as part of their birthday celebrations.  To start, this year we're organizing an art show to be put on sometime in March.  This is a call for artists to be engaged in the planning of this great event.  Please contact me either via LP or e-mail me directly at ejpeterschick@gmail.com if you'd like to learn more about how to get involved/show your art.  Thanks and looking forward to meeting many of you soon!

Hi everyone, I'm new to Launchpad.

I've recently become homeless due to lack of work. I am a talented artist and graphic designer but am seeking any job to get back on my feet. A creative job would be a plus! If anyone knows somebody who is in need of virtually any visual arts or design I would be grateful for a reference.

My website is www.movisualarts.com, if nothing else I greatly appreciate getting feedback on my work.

Thanks!

This is a letter from Cecile:

Hi there everyone,

I have an appeal that I would like you all to consider, knowing so many of you all well enough to know that you all have the most amazing and generous hearts and you will understand why I am asking all of you for help.

I am quite sure this will come as a surprise but I was at the Doctor’s August 23, 2011 and I am suddenly facing the possibilities of cancer. Of all things I have faced in my life I never thought this would be something that would also be on the list. Without going into the details of why, what, how long, or if I even have any of the answers I am faced with having to battle this, I am going to surge forward and try to raise the funds needed by offering up my best artworks. Because of the need for funds to pay for my medical battle I am going to have a special sale at Gallery of THUM and I will be putting all of these artworks up for auction. The large artworks over 3” by 3” and larger that are valued in the $2500.00 to 3500.00 range will be offered at $1500.00 or better if the purchaser is willing.

Artworks with values of $1000.00 to $1800.00 will be offered depending on the artwork between $600.00 and 900.00.

Plus all the small artworks will have beginning prices of $150.00 or more.

Of course everyone will say well, the doctors will take care of everything. Unfortunately, I am not insured, I took that risk when I first opened the Gallery of THUM knowing that when the business went into the black that there would be time to get myself coverage. With the economy downturn the last two years this has not been possible and of course now, better late than never is not a possibility.  I must have cash to pay the bills.

My request is simple; would you all please invite anyone who enjoys good art to come to the event to consider a purchase? This way I will be able to pay my bills.

The event with as many bells and whistles we can put together in such a short time will be:

Friday September 16, 2011

5:00pm to 8:00pm

Gallery of THUM

2910 North Monroe

Spokane WA 99205

(509) 413-1489

I promise to laugh and have a good time that night
