THE 50 HOUR SLAM screening becomes an event celebrating the Arts of Spokane.

The Hip Clips

are 16 short films chosen by our 7 illustrious judges and the Slam’s organizers from all the competitors in this year’s 50 HOUR SLAM. The Slam, of course, is the competition where filmmakers have fifty hours to make a short 3 to 6 minute film while incorporating three secret criteria. This year the criteria were the number 50, a historical building, and an original poem by a local poet.

There will be two screenings sessions on May 12, and the audience will be given the opportunity to vote on their favorite and name the winner of THE HIP CLIP Award for 2012.

This year the screening has become a major event as we celebrate the arts of Spokane with an exhibit of local photography entitled "THIS PLACE MATTERS". Several local photographers use their keen eye to capture a few of the historical buildings in Spokane in ways you’ve never seen them before. We’ll also be hosting live performances from poets from BROKEN MIC and GET LIT between the Slam screenings at the Saranac Public House, where we will also announce this year’s winners at the end of the night.

The performing arts is a passion of mine to say it in short. I support any organization that gives full credence to art in any medium.

kNIFVES kicked off the New Year with the Writers SIG (Special Interest Group) meeting in January in CDA.  Writers interested in joining please contact Mary Jane Honegger for more details.

SCREENWRITING SIG OFF TO A GREAT START

Topics of interest ranged from individual projects, to collaborations, marketing, adaptations, and even the idea of group projects during the first meeting of the kNIFVES Screenwriting SIG (Special Interest Group).

One member shared he is pitching a screenplay in Los Angeles next month, and has been asked to complete a stage play for 2012; while another recently finished a PBS documentary, and has dozens of directing, producing, and screenwriting credits to his name.

We want you to join us!  Whether you are a professional or new to the craft, you’ll find the camaraderie, motivation, and skills you are looking for as a screenwriter.

Future meetings will be held on the third Tuesdays of each month from 6:30 to 8:00pm in the Coeur d’Alene area.  Meeting place to be announced.  Next meeting: Tuesday, February 15.

Please call Mary Jane Honegger for more information:

I no longer need to find combat veterans for the Get Lit project that I'm doing. The film will be going a different direction. This film will be created solely by Eleventh Hour Films and no other organization is responsible for it's content or production.
