**pre-RSVP** to a March — 3D/CGI Meet and Greet + Hands-On Workshop

Artists, Hobbyists, and Professionals,

I'm planning a Artistic, 2D, and 3D Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) Technology Demonstration and Meet & Greet.

To be held in Demonstrations in SketchUp and Blender, two freely-available and powerful  programs.

Get in touch and let us know if you'd be interested in attending such an event.

  • "101" Demonstration of SketchUp
  • "101" Demonstration of Blender
  • Tease of Power Features of Blender
  • Tease of Third-Party Plug-ins that Extend SketchUp
  • Meet other Spokane Artists, Hobbyists, and Professionals
  • AND fill out a survey to Outline the things you would like to learn at a future Training Workshop.
  • (Between now and then maybe we can arrange for someone to demonstrate AutoCad, 3D Studio Max or other "Pro" programs)

I've been using Blender for three years and would estimate that I have attended approximately a couple months worth of workshops and training sessions over this period of time. I come from an Artistic and Video Editing Background.  I'm here and ready to share my knowledge with Spokane. I look forward to hearing from you.

Please pre-RSVP if you'd be interested in the (1) Meet & Greet and/or (2) the Hands-On Training Workshop.

Now it’s time to send in your application for the October Visual Arts Tour!  Please mark your calendar for Friday, October 5, and Saturday, October 6, 2012.  The tour is from 5:00-9:00 p.m. on Friday. The public appreciates added hours on Saturday, if possible. Registration forms will be available online at www.spokanearts.org/hottopics.aspx and at www.downtownspokane.net and paper forms will be at Spokane Art Supply, Chase Gallery, and Pottery Place Plus.

Please keep up the good work with your 80 word descriptive paragraph for publicity purposes (substance and detail in describing the artwork on exhibit). The deadline is Friday, August 31, 2012.

We invite participation from all local galleries—non-profit and for-profit—and we encourage open studios, alternative spaces and business participation in the October Visual Arts Tour.  We would be glad to help businesses find artists and give artists resources to find places to show their work.  Just give a call to Tammy Pruitt at 456-0580 ext. 102 or email her at tpruitt@downtownspokane.net. For all other questions, please call Craig Marshall at Spokane Art Supply (327-6622) or email him at craigm@myartsupply.com.

Registration, accompanied by a check for $35.00, is due to Spokane Art Supply by Friday, August 31, at 5:00pm.  Late registrations not accepted.  Use the attached PDF document.  You can mail in your check and registration form or you can deliver them in person to Spokane Art Supply, 1303 N. Monroe St., Spokane, WA 99201. We will use the registration fee to pay for printing, advertising and other expenses to promote and hold the event.  Press releases and images will be sent to selected media contacts. Once again, the Inlander will be a chief sponsor, producing the tour map and program.  We invite and encourage you to place an ad in the Inlander section at a discount rate, call Carolyn at 325-0638, ext. 214.

It is essential that you send in your registration by the deadline. The press release for this event is a volunteer effort, and we need your cooperation to get information put together and sent out to the media in time to meet their deadlines.

I have heard of Sketchup and even seen people looking for people with experience in it, but I've never had occaision to use it. Blender... I have a truly ghetto story about a Blender artist. Ah the ego of the CG warrior. Or so it was.

I'm a 3D Studio Max guy myself, been using it since it was just 3D Studio. I used to be a part of an online group ages ago... I even had some work in an independant film, which hopefully will never again see the light of day. Converting Max to Lightwave... what's wrong with some people.

Anyway, thought I'd say hi. If I'm ever mobile again a meet and greet could be fun. I can't do training classes though, I am an arrogant bastard who has been known to take over from time to time.

Blessings

I would be very interested in both the meet and greet and the hands on workshop. I have been using sketch up for about a year now and love it! I have done all the drawings for my company and a few for fun using it. Keep me posted on the status of this event!
