Event Description

Is social networking good for business or bad for employee productivity?

What is the right mix for using facebook, twitter, LinkedIn, LaunchPadINW and other social networking tools?

Is social networking taking the place of face to face networking to build trusted relationships?

How do you use twitter anyway?

Join us for this informative and interactive discussion with community leaders representing buisness, government, education, non-profit and media who will answer some of these questions while sharing their strategies, ideas and opinions about social networking.

Confirmed speakers include:

- Chris Marr, Washington State Senator, 6th District, Spokane
- Marty Dickinson, President, Downtown Spokane Partnership
- Barb Chamberlain, Director of Communications and Public Affairs, Washington State University Spokane
- Dan Kolbet, Communications Manager, Avista Corp.
- Nick Lawhead, Account Executive, Desautel Hege Communications
- Bill Kalivas, Partner/Co-Founder, LaunchPadINW.com (Moderator)

This will be a great opporuntity to meet new and experienced members of facebook, twitter, LinkedIn, LaunchPadINW, etc. in a fun, networking atmosphere as we celebrate University District month together in association with our partners at the Downtown Spokane Partnership and WSU Spokane!

Appetizers, no host beer and wine bar will be provided by Catacombs Pub Catering. Admission is $10 per person payable at the event. Campus parking information is available at the WSU-Spokane web site link provided.
For sponsorship information please contact allen@launchpadinw.com

Visitors to campus are encouraged to use public transit; STA Route #29 serves Riverpoint. Bike racks are located by every building, and the Centennial Trail provides pedestrian/bike access. Drivers should use the meters in the green parking lots, or park in the Pay and Display lot (cash, coin or debit card) located just off of Spokane Falls Boulevard to the west of the South Campus Facility at 412 E. Spokane Falls Blvd. One-hour parking on city streets is also available. A map to help guide you to your campus location can be viewed or printed here: http://www.spokane.wsu.edu/aboutWSUSpokane/Visiting/WSUSpokaneMap2009_June1.pdf.

Consensus is to use #SpoSM for tweets regarding tonight's forum and future "one-off" social media events in Spokane.

Would it like to photograph the event. Would that be ok? My interest is in Social Realism photography and want to see who is doing the social networking.

thanks for the invite, unfortunately this conflicts with ITT open house which I will be working at. Can't wait to hear the results.

I would LOVE to have attended this event, but I'm flying home from Denver on Tuesday and won't be home in time. I'm so looking forward to the next event!

Thanks for clarifying the location with such specific instructions Barb. I've been to this venue once for a College of Nursing event. Planning to attend.

This conflicts with the Novella Carpenter event at Auntie's, but I'll see if I can make it.
